Got the tram close to the palace. It does get busy, but well worth the visit. If not just for the gardens alone, which are quite extensive. The weather was a bit on the cool and windy side, so I will go again when it's nicer and walk all around the gardens.

I will admit it was cold and wet, so probably not the best day. The palace is nice. Basically about 20 rooms, so it is not massive. An easy tram ride from the main train station is the one time summer palace of Nymphenburg. With 17 rooms to visit and fantastic fantasy gardens, it is like a visit to the country while still in the city limits and a great way to experience the history of the ruling family.
